WestSide Champs U19 basketball club launched

Social Drive foundation on Friday, 4th December 2020 officially launched the WestSide Champs U19 basketball club in the Western Regional capital, Takoradi.

The event which took place at the racecourse opposite the Woodbridge International School saw the owner of the new boys’ team Mrs. Alice Okyerewa Darko and coach Desmond Asiedu Ampofo present.

WestSide Champs basketball will offer training and development platforms for teenagers in basketball and currently has 19 kids aged between 15-18 years.

On her aspirations behind starting the youth basketball club, Alice Okyerewa Darko said the decision was to support the development of basketball in the region and Ghana.

“WestSide Champs of Social Drive Foundation promises to become a household name in the basketball sports industry and in order to achieve this I call on all team players to give of their best in the area of performance and adherence to the code of ethics and conduct, and exhibit the highest standards in discipline”

“The birthing of this club would be a step towards the contribution to the development of basketball, and sports in the Western Region and Ghana as a whole, she reiterated.
