The Accra Sports Stadium was lit with goals on Friday night as West African Football Academy suffered their first away defeat of the campaign as they were thrashed 4-1 by Legon Cities.

Having recorded an emphatic win against Ashantigold in their last fixture, the Academy boys were widely tipped to beat the Royals.

But this was exactly not the case on Friday evening as Legon Cities demolished the Sogakope lads 4-1.

The host took the lead halfway through the first half as Cephas Duku scored the game’s opener.

WAFA had to wait until the 42nd minute to draw level with a sweet freekick by Sampson Agyapong.

The second half began with both sides looking to earn a win but it was Legon Cities who turned up the notch as they scored three times in 45 minutes.

Ebenezer Nii Addy restored the lead for the home side just four minutes into the second half.

Cephas Duku recorded his second of the evening in the 64th minute before Fadali Yussif added the fourth with barely 10 minutes to end proceedings.

WAFA’s Richard Danso was given his marching orders after receiving his second booking with 5 minutes of additional time to play.

legon Cities will travel to play Berekum Chelsea. WAFA will be at home against Aduana Stars on Matchday 14.
