The Ghana Premier League matchday 12 concluded on Monday as the excitement continued at the various match centres.
The Miners began the week top of the league log but the defeat to WAFA means they drop to 4th, level on points with Asante Kotoko who lie third courtesy a superior goal difference.
Eventual Man of the Match winner, Konadu Yiadom scored twice for the host, as Andrews Ntim Manu, Abubakari Ibrahim, Daniel Owusu, and Mola Haruna registered a goal in the match. Amos Kofi Nkrumah scored Ashgold’s consolidation goal.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Friday night returned to winning ways as they beat Bechem United 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium. The game was the Porcupine’s first home game away since the closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The host did enough to record their sixth win of the campaign. Augustine Okrah, Imoro Ibrahim and Martin Antwi were the goal scorers for Kotoko with Hafiz Wontah Konkoni pulling one back for the visitors.
Hearts of Oak struggle in front of goal continued last Sunday as they could only manage a one-all draw with Elmina Sharks. The visitors took the lead through Dennis Mensah before Kofi Kodzi levelled things for the Phobians. The results meant Hearts of Oak has scored eleven times in twelve league matches this season. They lie 9th on the league table with 17points, 6 points behind the top.
Legon Cities FC joined WAFA as the second team in the division so far with most draws after the twelve matches [seven] so far this season. They played out a goalless stalemate at home against Eleven Wonders.
Two matchday 12 games produced just a single goal in them; Isaac Kwain powered Aduana Stars to secure a 1-0 away victory against Dreams FC while Elvis Kyei Baffour struck home again for Liberty to pick all points against Karela United.
Dreams FC are without a win in their last four league games.
Following Sunday’s results, Aduana Stars remain among the top three sides in the division with 23 points so far.
Another fixture that produced six goals was the match between Berekum Chelsea and King Faisal. A brace from Stephen Amankona and two goals from Jordan Opoku and Richard Kissi Boateng condemned King Faisal to their seventh league defeat.
Ibrahim Osman and Frimpong Boateng scored for the struggling Faisal babes but that could do nothing as they remain bottom of the league table with just five points.
The last game of matchday 12 came up on Monday as Medeama SC defeat Great Olympics thanks to Prince Agyemang’s first half solitary strike.
