Former Ketu Ladies midfielder, Fortune Kede has opened up on life in America where she combines playing football and her university education.

The 25-year-old in an interview with Christian Chibueze on SportsConnect on Eze1 TV mentioned US women’s soccer player Alex Morgan as her inspiration.

“..When I went to the national team there was this girl called Chibsah. She is very fast and flexible with good ball movement so I wanted to be like her”

“But as I started watching a lot of female games, Alex Morgan is the person that really inspired me playing for the US National team.

“She really inspired”, Fortune added.

On her challenges, she maintains that her ineligibility to attend a public university after having spent so much time at home since graduating high school counts key among them.

This meant she has to attend a private school which is quite expensive while keeping her grades up in order to secure academic scholarships.

Currently undergoing rehab following an injury, Fortune Kede revealed she’s open to playing for the Black Queens, though her next target is to be a pilot.

“After graduating this year, I’m planning on joining the Aviation school and become a commercial pilot”.

Having featured for Volta Amalgamated, Halifax Ladies, and Lady Strikers, Fortune Kede earned three call-ups to feature for the Black Maidens and Princesses but yet to mark her debut.

She currently plays for the Wayland Baptist University female team where she’s currently schooling.
