Ghana’s Black Meteors are just a win away from booking their place in next years’ Tokyo Olympics Games when they face Ivory Coast in the first semifinals of the ongoing Total U23 AFCON in Egypt.
Whoever emerges victors in this afternoon clash will secure a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics as well as have a chance to lift the U23 AFCON trophy in the finals.
The Black Meteors having won and drawn one apiece and suffering a defeat to Egypt finished second in Group A, pairing them against the Young Elephants who topped Group B with two wins and one defeat.
Head coach of Ivory Coast Soualiho Haidara during the Pre-Match press conference on Monday said he is expecting a different game from Ghana.
“The semifinal is different from the group stage and we have to beware.
“We have to be ready to face Ghana, I studied them well and we are focused and prepared.”
Meanwhile Meteors head coach, Ibrahim Tanko is confident about his team producing a good result against the Young Elephants.
“Cote d’Ivoire is a difficult team and facing them is not going to be easy especially in a game of this magnitude.
“I trust my players to win and reach the final, and also grab the ticket for the Olympics”, Tanko added.
