With football currently suspended in Europe and other parts of the world, attention has been switched to the ePremier tournament ; an Invitational competition where 20 teams battle fot supremacy in an Esports event.
Wilfred Zaha, Todd Cantwell, Trend Alexander-Arnold, and Christian Atsu joins a list of other professional FIFA players who are competing in the inaugural ePremier league tournament.
The Esports tournament which began on Tuesday 21st April 2020 will continue today as Manchester City star Raheem Sterling face Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha in the round 16.
Other premier league players included in the competition are Reece James, Moussa Sissoko, Wilfred Ndidi, and Nathaniel Chalobah.
In other matches today, Tottenham Hotspurs Moussa Sissoko will play against Newcastle United represented by Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold will face Tom Grennan, a musician representing Manchester United.
Chelsea Reece James has been pitted against Everton’s Andre Gomes.
The ePremier League tournament is a digital, competitive computer gaming event which involves playing FIFA20 designed by EA Sports.
The tournament forms part of initiatives to urge fans to stay at home in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Competition’s prize fund will be donated to the #PlayersTogether, an initiative by premier league players to raise funds to support health care systems in the UK.
