Born to Ghanaian parents in Australia, Elon Dzadey has expressed readiness to play for the Ghana Black Starlets despite interest from Australia.
The 15-year-old was on trial at Real Madrid earlier this year but prospective move to join the youth setup of the Spanish was placed on hold due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
There has been interest from other Spanish clubs to have the teenager trial with their academy but Elon has since returned to Australia where he’s continuing with his training at Northcote City FC.
Speaking to Yuuf Zone TV on the interests from the Australian Football Federation, Elon Dzadey maintains that his dream is to play for Ghana, possibly in the U17 World Cup.
“My hard work paid off when I was given the opportunity to train and play in Madrid at the beginning of the season”
“However, my goal is to represent Ghana at the U17 World cup. Nothing will make me more proud than to represent Ghana”, Elon Dzadey reiterated.
“I had the opportunity to first work with Elon when he was an U12 player and one thing that stood up with me with Elon was that you could see he’s going to be a player with special physical characteristics”, Coach of the NPL Victoria 2 side Jim Pieos said.
Elon has received recommendations from a number of coaches for a call-up to the Australian U17 team, the Joeys.
