It’s barely 24 hours before the 2019 President Cup where two of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will face each other at the Baba Yara Sports on Sunday.
Since their last meeting which was in the Normalisation Committee Special Cup, both clubs have been active in recruiting new players as they augment their squad ahead of the new campaign.
Sunday’s match will present both coaches an opportunity to test the squad depth so far.
Having enjoyed some competitive football, Kjetil Zacharissen’s side will enter the game as favorites due to their participation in the CAF Champions league.
Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, can only boast of strings of friendlies which has been against lower division sides at the Pobiman Park.
With expectations so high, this would mean little to the fans who will throng to the Baba Yara stadium in perhaps their Strike and Umbro replicas.
Hearts gaffer, Kim Grant will hope to appease the Hearts faithful after losing his first super clash when they played their bitterest rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Zacharrisen could use this game to fine-tune his team as they play Etoile Du Sahel in the final qualifying round of the CAF Champions league next weekend.
With a cash prize and pride at stake, this is definitely a game Ghana football fans will savor.
