Following the introduction of the COVID-19 fund by the Ghana government, the Parliamentary Select Committee chairman for Youth, Sports and culture Alex Agyekum has called on the Black Stars players to join the fight against the pandemic.
He made the assertion in an interview with Accra-based radio station Peace FM, urging Ghanaian players to donate financially towards the COVID-19 fund.
The players must donate to the COVID-19 fund introduced by the government. We know some of them have done their best but I think the national team must rise to the occasion”, Alex Agyekum told Peace FM.
“We are waiting for them, maybe they are preparing themselves for the better. They should try and come on board.
“Captains of the various national teams must mobilise them because this is the time to show the government some love.
“The foreign-based players should try and do something because this is the time we need them, ” he added.
Meanwhile, Andre Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, and Kwadwo Asamoah are among some Black Stars players having donated to some communities and institutions.
