Official: StarTimes secure Ghana Premier league and FA Cup broadcast rights

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed Chinese media firm, StarTimes as the official television rights holder of the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup.

In a deal worth $5.25 million US Dollars, Startimes has earned the rights for the broadcast of both Ghanaian competitions for the next five years.

“The Ghana Football Association is delighted to announce to its stakeholders that StarTimes Ghana are the new Television Rights Holders of the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup.

“StarTimes will sign a five-year agreement with the GFA worth $5.25m US Dollars to be the exclusive Television Rights owner of the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup with immediate effect”, the FA confirmed in an official statement.

Meanwhile, there will be non-exclusive rights for television stations to telecast highlights of the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup.

The decision comes after a competitive bidding process where the Chinese electronics and media company emerged with the best offer.
