Majeed Ashimeru made a substitute appearance for Red Bull Salzburg in their 2-3 Champions League home defeat to Napoli on Wednesday.
The former West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) player was brought on by coach Jesse Marsch for Patson Daka in the 68th minute.
This comes just five minutes after Napoli had taken the lead through a Dries Mertens volley to find the back of the net.
Ashimeru’s introduction could do little as the Italian side continued to dominate possession in the third group game.
But against the run of play, the host found the equalizer an Erling Braut Haaland header in the 72nd minute.
Unfortunately, their celebration was short-lived as Lorenzo Insigne put the visitors back ahead just a minute after.
Salzburg managed to grab hold of the game but it proved a little too late as Napoli won 3-2 to lie top of the group with 7 points.
Ashimeru’s Salzburg currently lay 3rd in the group, three points behind second-placed Liverpool. They will travel to Italy to play the reverse fixture in their match on November 5th.
