Following a 2-2 draw during regulation time, Liverpool emerged victors after winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 5-4 against Chelsea.
A Man-of-The-Match performance by Adrian, having joined Liverpool on a free transfer to serve as a backup to Alisson Becker proved his worth after saving Tammy Abraham’s kick.

Chelsea had taken the lead through Olivier Giroud in the 36th minute but Sadio Mane drew level for Liverpool after introducing Roberto Firmino two minutes into the second half.
The two sides failed to score during the rest of normal time as the game traveled to extra time.
Sadio Mane was on hand again as he put the Merseyside club ahead again in the 95th minute before Liverpool goalkeeper, Adrian was judged to have fouled Tammy Abraham in the box for a penalty.
Jorginho made no mistake as he neatly placed the resulting kick beyond Adrian’s reach to draw level.
During the penalty shoot-out, both sides scored 5-4 meaning Tammy Abraham’s fifth kick for Chelsea was all or nothing.
His shot down the middle was saved by Adrian to throw Instabul into wild jubilation as Chelsea fans were outnumbered in the stands.
Adrian was voted MOTM in an evening that saw Manager Jurgen Klopp win his second trophy in barely two months.
