The Ghana Football Association has postponed its emergency meeting to Monday to discuss the black stars’ slow start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The reasons behind the decision of the GFA Executive Council to call off the highly-publicized meeting is known. However, there are suggestions of government pressures to halt any attempt to fire the under-fire Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor.

Black stars underwhelming performances in the two qualifying games have attracted attention from Ghanaian football followers and the general public.

Many suggest the FA needs to part ways with the former Ghana international whose reign as Ghana’s head coach has seen only a handful of positives.

However, there are growing suggestions that the FA EXCO are convinced that CK Akonnor’s abilities will come shot to secure ghana qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Despite the postponement, the former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak coach is not in the clear yet as he would need to do more to convince the FA to keep his position.

Ghana has three points from two games after beating Ethiopia 1-0 and losing by the same margin to South Africa.
