Inter Allies’ Alex Aso talks breakthrough season and dream ‘big money’ move to Europe

Inter Allies’ Alex Aso was the latest guest on Eze1 TV’s Sports Connect show on Thursday.

The attacking midfielder threw light on his career and ambition to travel in Europe in an interactive interview with Christian Chibueze on Thursday edition of the connect show.

Alex Aso revealed his journey from the Volta Regional Division 2 side Home Stars where he was handpicked by Coach Christopher Tsomafo despite failing to make the cut at a justifier held by Dynamo FC; another division two side in the region.

After just a season at Home Stars, the midfielder was presented an opportunity where he moved to Ghana premier league side, Inter Allies but was made to join the Team B, Cedar Stars Academy.

The youngster admitted to earlier struggles having just joined an Academy side which was full of talented players with huge competition due to quest to earn promotion to play for the senior side.

“It was big competition”, he said.

But according to him, hard work on and off the field sailed him through as he made his debut in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana premier league.

Prior to that, he has scored and assisted in Inter Allies 2-1 victory over premier league giants Hearts of Oak during a preseason friendly.

That game apparently affirmed his readiness to play in Ghana’s top-tier league.

On his thoughts concerning the state of the local game, the former Home Stars player said that conditions are not all good but was quick to attribute that to the lack of investment and sponsors.

“We playing now for passion because we know the big money is in Europe. So if you want that you’ll have to train hard and perform, he admitted.

Responding to whether he is interested in national team football, Alex was affirmative insisting he knows what to do.

“Yes, if I get the chance. But getting the chance means I have to work for it because there’s a lot of players out there who also want to play for the national team”

The 20-year-old made 13 appearances for Inter Allies FC before the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana football season due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
