Followers of the domestic league most especially Hearts of Oak supporters were on Friday left shocked over the exit of striker Joseph Esso from the club.
The fans were left in awe over the inability of the club to agree on a new deal with the former Ebusua Dwarfs striker who has impressed since joining in 2018.
Hearts PRO, Kwame Opare Addo has explained that Esso’s rather high demands led to the club’s decision not to extend his stay with the Capital-based side.
But Hearts of Oak fans led by the National Chapters Committee (NCC) are particularly not enthused about the decision to let the 23-year-old striker leave.
Sources indicate that the supporter’s leadership have already met and will meet the player in coming days over a possible return to the club.
Meanwhile, NCC PRO Kobby Jones has confirmed that the supporter’s leadership are dissatisfied over the recent development concerning the player.
“There is no action without reaction. Esso’s contract extension issue started long ago. I can’t blame Joseph Esso for demanding huge money”
“The departure of Joseph Esso is unfortunate for us because he’s our talisman. I’m telling you there is no Hearts of Oak supporter who is happy with that decision to release Esso. The NCC will meet and when we meet, we’ll look at it”, Kobby Jones is quoted to have told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.
Regardless of the outcome of the meeting, it remains to be seen whether the Hearts of Oak hierarchy will overturn their decision over the player.
