Aside the three maximum points at stake, there’s pride and bragging rights at stake with both set of fans set to troop to the stadium to support their respective teams.
It’s been an interesting build to this game with Kotoko currently lying 7th; five places above Hearts with a two points difference.
The home side seems to have turned their season around despite losing their two opening games.
Hearts earned their first victory of the campaign with a 2-1 win over struggling Ebusua Dwarfs. They followed up with a goalless draw at Sogakope against WAFA before beating Liberty Professionals 2-1 at the Dansoman Carl Reindolf Park.
It’s been somewhat contrasting to that of their bitterest rivals, Asante Kotoko who have picked just three points in their last three games.
These could mean little in encounters between Hearts and Kotoko which is set to take a familiar trend on Sunday.
In recent times, clashes between the two at the Accra Sports Stadium appear to favour the Porcupine Warriors.
Hearts of Oak have been a better side in their last five meetings in the Ghana Premier League, winning twice and recording a single lose with the other two ending in draws.
A win for either side on Sunday afternoon will be a huge boost for their title ambitions.
