Speculations continue to rise over the future of Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey who has heavily been linked with a move to English Premier League side, Arsenal.
The Ghanaian international who was linked with a move to Arsenal at the end of last season appear closer to securing the transfer his father, Jacob Partey dropped a huge hint over the switch to London.
Jacob [Partey’ father] confirmed in an interview with Ghana-based Tru FM Sports World Show that talks are ongoing between his Partey’s representatives and Arsenal.
“I called my son after hearing the rumours and he told me that the rumours are true,
“He told me they are holding talks between him and Arsenal. It all depends on the offer Atletico are demanding.
“If he goes to Arsenal, fine, they have a lot of supporters in Ghana. I will be happy if he decides to move to Arsenal. What they are discussing now is how Atletico will release him”.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old has three years more running on his contract with Atletico Madrid which is subject to a £44 million release clause.
With growing interest in the Thomas Partey, the Stadio Metropolitano side are looking to sign him to a new deal in a bid to not lose the player on the cheap.
With Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka’s future remains unclear at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal are looking to sign a new midfielder with Thomas Partey earmarked a good fit.
