Former Asante Kotoko midfielder, Jackson Owusu has reacted to reports suggesting that he has been ‘detained’ in a Kenyan hotel.
Reports suggested that the Ghanaian footballer is being held in a hotel in Nairobi over unpaid bills owed by his club Gor Mahia.
It was further reported that the former Kotoko ace depends on family in Ghana as well as fans of his club after going five months without salary.
But in a quick reaction, Jackson Owusu has denied the reports, throwing light on the issue.
“I have not been detained as reported. I’m in my room listening to music. What am I going to do outside for me to be arrested,” the player is quoted in an interview with Oyerepa FM.
“It’s never true. It’s a lie. How am I able to have my personal training if I have been detained as reported? It is not true. Disregard the news.
“The supporters have issues with the team owner. It’s never true I have problems in my hotel.
“It is the team’s Hotel where every player who joins the team is accommodated. How can I have a problem here?. I don’t pay anything here”, the player quizzed.
Gor Mahia football club are record holders in the Kenyan Premier league having won the top division title 18 times, 5 more than rivals A.F.C. Leopards.
