With sporting activities currently suspended in Ghana due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, a member of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has revealed the association is looking to emulate the pay-per-view model by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) to support boxers.
Alhaji Tophic told Accra-based Happy FM that the association is looking at the various means to generate revenues for Ghanaian boxers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, the GBA is looking to emulating the WBO pay-per-view model where fans can watch boxing fights from the comfort of their homes.
“One of the things we can do is to stage fights via pay-per-view.
“Pay-per-view will be an avenue whereby fans get to pay and watch boxing bouts at their various homes, ” Alhaji Tophic told Happy FM.
“The WBO is planning to stage a fight like that. We cannot sit down till next year to stage a fight. What will the boxers eat.”
He maintained that the lack of boxing activity is having adverse impact on the GBA and boxers therefore the need device ways to support the sport.
