A first-half double by Kwame Opoku handed Asante Kotoko their third win of the league campaign as beat Liberty Professionals 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
An intense opening minutes by the Porcupine Warriors saw them secured two early goals before the half-hour mark.
Returning Kotoko supporters were treated with an exciting display from Brazilian import Fabio Gama who set up all two goals scored by Kwame Opoku.
The forward latched on a pass by Fabio inside the Liberty penalty area to hit the back of the net in the 10th minute
Liberty responded quickly but it took a good save from Razak Abalora to keep Daniel Antwi from finding the equalizer.
Four minutes later, it was Kwame Opoku once again who doubled Kotoko’s lead in the 19th minute. Who else to provide the assist than Fabio Gama who is already answering questions over his signing.
Several efforts by Liberty to reduce the deficit proved futile as the half ended 2-0 in favour of Kotoko.
The second half was a more balanced affair as either side tried to create scoring opportunities.
However, the clearest goalscoring opportunity fell the Brazilian Gama who’s headed effort needed a little bit of power to go past Kofi Baah in post for the Scientific SoccerLads.
Liberty mounted a late surge with barely 10 minutes to end proceeding but all came to nothing as Kotoko sealed all three points to move to 6th on the league table.
They will travel to play WAFA next at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena while Liberty play home to Ebusua Dwarfs.
