The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo in his latest address of nation on measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19 has finally lifted the ban imposed on all contact-sports activities.

Sunday’s announcement means football activities can now fully return though special dispensation was earlier given to both male and female U17 and U20 national teams to resume training.

As a result, clubs in the Ghana premier league, Division One League, and the Women’s premier league can resume training immediately ahead of the commencement of the respective leagues on October 30, 2020.

However, football stadia to hold football activities are expected to limit sitting capacity to 25% to ensure adherence to social distancing.

Fans are prohibited from being present at training grounds of their respective clubs.

The wearing of masks remains mandatory for all spectators, as part of plans to help curb coronavirus spread while football resumes.

Meanwhile, the restart of all sporting activities will be done in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) and the respective associations.
