Two former Hearts of Oak players, Leonard Tawiah and Winful Cobbinah have rejected assertions made by Thomas Abbey over the side’s loss to Asante Kotoko in the 2017 MTN FA Cup finals.
Thomas Abbey in a recent interview with Angel FM attributed Hearts of Oak’s 3-1 defeat to their bitterest rivals to unpaid salaries and winning bonuses.
This appears not to be the case as two audio tapes purported to be that of Leonard Tawiah and Winful Cobbinah; available to Press Sports Ghana suggests otherwise.
Leonard in the tape maintained that Hearts lost the match but not due to payments outstanding.
Winful Cobbinah, on the other hand, rejected Abbey’s assertion saying he’s surprised by the comments by the former Hearts captain.
In the cup final played at the Tamale Sports Stadium, Saddick Adams first-half hat trick condemned the Phobians to a 3-1 defeat with Thomas Abbey pulling one back for Hearts.
