Hearts of Oak can go five points clear of the league table with a win against Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday.
The Phobians made the title ambitions clear with a 1-0 win over Asante Kotoko in their last league outing to go three clear at the top. However, Hearts can increase the gap to five after King Faisal held Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Yet, that won’t be an easy feat for the Phobians who would need to go past relegation-threatened Ebusua Dwarfs.
However, games between the two teams have seen the Phobians emerge tops, winning all their last seven games against the Cape Coast-based side.
The last time Dwarfs picked a point against Hearts of Oak was in the 2015/16 season, where they drew 1-1 against the 20-time Ghana premier league champions.
With the relegation battle heating up, it could be a different tale as a loss at home on Sunday could potentially put them in the drop zone.
Yet, Kotoko’s draw with King Faisal means Hearts of Oak can win the 2020/21 Ghana premier league title with just four points out of the remaining three games.
The visitors are unbeaten in their last nine games – the last time they lost in the league was a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC on matchday 22.
This means Dwarfs will have to put together everything in their arsenal to pick a point against a side they have struggled against in several campaigns.
