Former Hearts of Oak player Bernard Don Bortey have appointed head coach of Division two side, Gold Stars FC.
The 37-year-old takes over the coaching role at the Techiman side after a short stint with Accra-based Emmanuel FC in a technical capacity.
Widely regarded for his pacy feet and set-piece ability, Don Bortey told Graphic Sports his decision to impact the younger generation with his football knowledge.
“I want to concentrate on helping the younger generation with the vast knowledge I had in football during my playing days, ”
“I have been coaching for two years now and so far so good. It is very stressful but I believe I have a lot to offer these young ones.’
He maintained that coaching is a very difficult job but he’s ready to make a mark.
“It is a very difficult job but I’m determined to work harder to make a mark in coaching.”
The former Ghana international once referred to as the ‘serial killer’ won four Ghana premier league titles with the rainbow club.
Dong Bortey was part of the Hearts of Oak team that defeated rivals Asante Kotoko to win the 2004 CAF Confederations cup in 2004.
