Africa’s footballing greats, Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto were left in a state of shock over attempts to trial coronavirus vaccines on the African continent.
This was after two French doctors Jean-Paul Mira and Camille Locht attempted to suggest on French TV that the vaccines for the COVID-19 should be tested in some African Countries.
This apparently didn’t go down well with the ex-football stars who could not help but voice out their displeasure.
The Doctors are quoted to have said, “If I can be provocative, shouldn’t we be doing this study in Africa, where there are no masks, no treatments, no resuscitation?”
“A bit like as it is done elsewhere for some studies on Aids. In prostitutes, we try things because we know that they are highly exposed and that they do not protect themselves.”
“You are right, We are in the process of thinking about a study in parallel in Africa”, Dr Mira and Dr Locht said on live TV.
Former Cameroon captain and Barcelona star, Samuel Eto labelled the two doctors as “assassins”.
Cote D’Ivoire and Chelsea great, Didier Drogba took to Twitter to share his ‘disgust’ over what he believed had racist undertones.
The virus also known as COVID-19 has infected over a million people globally, claiming thousands of lives since its outbreak.
There are currently various actions being taken to expedite measures to obtain a vaccine or cure to halt the pandemic.
