Following a lengthy break due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Black Stars returned to action on Friday with an international friendly against Mali.
However, the game was Charles Akonnor’s first game since being appointed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to replace Kwesi Appiah in January.
It wasn’t particularly a dream start by the former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko coach who saw his team suffer a humbling 3-0 defeat in the Hands of the Malians.
Mali took the lead just minutes into the first half before adding two in the second half to secure victory in a game that saw Ghana dominate most of the proceedings.
Consequently, football fans particularly Ghanaians were not enthused by Ghana’s showing prompting several comments and backlash over the capability of CK Akonnor to handle the national team after just one outing.
