In an interview with Joy Sports’ Benedict Owusu on Monday, head coach of the Black Stars, Charles Akonnor has indicated that he’s open to handing the on-loan Besiktas player, Kevin Prince Boateng.
But he was quick to reiterate that it’s his return is only possible if the former AC Milan player settles his tussle with the Ghana Football Association.
It could be recalled that Kevin Prince Boateng was in a centre of controversy after Ghana’s horrendous showing in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The player was placed on an indefinite suspension from Black Stars duty following allegations of verbally assaulting former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah.
“If Kevin-Prince Boateng is available, why will I not give him a call-up? He has played before, he has done well, but there were some issues, we cannot also deny that.”
“But if he is doing well and is actively playing and he is strong why not? But whatever it is, I will need to talk to the FA about it and if he is welcomed, I call him once he is cleared.
“There are issues that I cannot discuss with you but if he is interested, I will call him if everything is settled”, Charles Akonnor added.
Meanwhile, the Fiorentina player, now on-loan with Besiktas in a recent post on social media has expressed his readiness to feature for the Black Stars if handed a call-up.
