Former Ghanaian International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion, Richard Commey will be making a return to ring as when he faces Dominican boxer, Jackson Marinez on February 13th in Las Vegas, USA.
Since losing his IBF title to Teofimo Lopez in December 2019, Commey is yet to mount the ring.
However, the upcoming bout against Marinez will be a co-feature in the WBO World Light Heavyweight contest between Joe Smith and Maxim Vlasov.
The Ghanaian has since been in New York, USA and continues with training under Andre Rozier to get back in shape ahead of the bout with Marinez which may offer him chance to stake another claim at the IBF title he lost under disappointing circumstances.
Meanwhile, his Dominican opponent won’t come easy after also losing his last fight Rolando Romero by a rather controversial unanimous decision.
Richard Commey (33) boasts a total of 32 career fights, winning 29; 26 by way of knockout and losing 3 times.
He has previously held the Ghanaian lightweight title in 2011, the ABU and Commonwealth title in 2013 and the latter from 2014 to 2015.
