Match Day five of the Ghana Premier league began on Saturday as AshantiGold SC played host to Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
What appeared a difficult fixture list has turned a rollercoaster for Berekum Chelsea who have defeated arguably Ghana’s top three sides; Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and now AshantiGold in their first five games of the season.
A good start to the season coupled with home advantage placed the Obuasi side favorites to win Saturday’s game, but Chelsea would have none of it as they beat Ashantigold 1-0 to go top of the League log ahead of Sunday games.
A 52nd-minute strike by Kofi Owusu was enough to decide the tie as the visitors carried all three points at stake to go top ahead of Aduana Stars visit on Match Day 6.
Meanwhile, AshantiGold will travel to play Medeama in another top liner on Sunday.
