The Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges (UPAC) basketball championship is set for another season as 32 teams are set to challenge for the ultimate prize in the 2020 UPAC Basketball Championship.
The competition scheduled for February 2020 will see all-time record holders, University of Ghana defend the trophy they won in April 2019.
UPAC championship enters its 8th seasons since its inception with the University of Ghana winning the last four editions, taking over from Accra Technical University who won the first two seasons.
Since the championship began in 2011, the University of Ghana, Accra Technical University, University of Education-Winneba, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science, and Technology and Marshalls University College have remained in thick affairs with the latter making runner-up in 2017.
ATU has won the competition twice before making runner-up in 2016 and 2018. UEW has made the finals once, losing to ATU in the finals of the maiden edition in 2011 before coming third in 2018.
KNUST has failed to better its 2015 runner-up record having since made third place in 2016 and 2019.
Takoradi Technical University has come second and third on two occasions; runner-up in the last edition where they lost to University of Ghana, and w 3rd place finish in the competition’s first edition.
The 2020 edition will be held in 8 cities; Cape Coast, Techiman, Kumasi, Greater Accra, Sunyani, Koforidua, Takoradi, and Ho from February to April 2020.
