Former France international, Marcel Desailly has charged Ghana defender Baba Rahman to up his game after rejoining English side, Chelsea.
The left-back has made just 15 premier league appearances for Chelsea since his 2015 transfer from German side, Augsburg.
Limited playing time at the London club pushed the 26-year-old on numerous loan spells which were largely hampered by injuries.
Two loan spells at Schalke 04 between 2016 and 2018 was continued by another in the 2018/19 season where he featured for Reims in the French league.
Abdul Baba Rahman later joining Spanish La Liga side RCD Mallorca where he was limited to just two appearances due to a recurring injury.
After having returned to Chelsea in June, there have been widespread reports linking the player away from the club but Marcel Desailly believes the defender may have still have something to offer.
“Baba Rahman should not give up, I think he has the level to be at Chelsea as a first choice, so he should try more.
“He went out of the country to play in the Spanish league so he has to try and come back with a better mindset to be able to perform”, Desailly told FootballmadeinGhana.
“The Premier League is very difficult because of the speed of the game, so it’s not easy but he has to cope with it”, the former Chelsea defender added.
Marcel Desailly boasts a very successful career both at club and international level.
He won the 1998 World Cup with France as well as the 2000 European Championship, before adding two Confederations title in 2001 and 2003.
The former French skipper is a two-time UEFA Champions League winner with two super cups. He won two Serie A titles with AC Milan and one FA Cup with Chelsea.
