Ghana International Asamoah Gyan recorded his first league goal for the Indian Super League side, NorthEast United as they beat Odisha 2-1 on Saturday.
The Black Stars forward who joined the Indian side on a free transfer last month scored in the 83rd minute to secure all three points for the host.
With the game tied at 1-1 with barely 10 minutes to end proceedings, Gyan’s clinical header proved decisive for the Highlanders who emerged 2-1 winners.
The former Sunderland player had earlier picked up a yellow card on the stroke of halftime.
The goal will be a confidence-booster for the Ghanaian who had a difficult spell with Kayserispor due to recurring injuries.
