Ahead of Ghana’s doubleheader against Sudan in the next African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have confirmed that Thomas Partey won’t be available for the Black Stars.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder who joined Arsenal over the summer picked up a knock in his side’s 3-0 loss to Aston Villa in the English Premier League last Sunday.
He was among a 23-man squad called up by Black Stars head coach Charles Akonnor for this month qualifiers.
A statement by the GFA indicates that Partey won’t be available due to an injury which requires treatment in London.
“Arsenal have confirmed that the player picked up a minor sprain in his ankle and would require treatment in London. As a result, Partey, will not travel to Accra for the doubleheader against Sudan as he continues his treatment in North London”, the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will play Sudan at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday, 12th November 2020.
