The 2019 Homowo Cup finally came off as Hearts of Oak drew goalless with regional rivals, Great Olympics on Sunday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The derby cup match which has seen several postponements until last Sunday saw both teams compete at top level but it was the Phobians who created the most chances.
Kofi Kodzi and Obeng Junior were the most culprits after failing to beat Great Olympics goalkeeper, Stephen Odai on several occasions.
The second half saw Olympics join the party with Felix Quaye going close for the Wonder club of Ghana football on the 60th-minute mark.
Charles McCarthy who picked up a knock was replaced by Aminu Alhassan for the Phobians, as Ali Kadir came on for Olympics in place of Ahmed Tijani after 65minutes of play.
Ezekiel Tetteh was later replaced by Stephen Okai with Roland Grippiman coming in for Emmanuel Abbey in Olympics substitution.
It remained a balanced affair with the Host going close on two occasions but Stephen Odai stood tall in the Olympics post to push the game for a re-match after it ended goalless.
Meanwhile, Kofi Kodzi and former Karela United player, Dominic Eshun entered the referee’s book for yellow card offenses.
The rematch according to the organizers will come off on 20th October 2019 at the same venue.
